Wellbeing
Happy & Resilient Students
Huntingtower understands that wellbeing is fundamental to a child achieving his or her potential. We want our all our students to be happy, confident and resilient so that they can achieve positive learning outcomes and lead purposeful and rewarding lives.
Proactive Wellbeing
UP (Unlimited Potential) lessons in the Senior School provide a scaffolded approach that explicitly teaches the social and emotional skills students require to build happy, healthy and fulfilling lives and relationships. A Mentor Program, where students meet tri-weekly with staff mentors, ensures students have an advocate and support system as they progress through high school. ‘Trust Mapping’ with Middle School students aids teachers in understanding the social connectiveness of students and Social/Emotional classes in the Junior School incorporate the CARE, Body Safe and Zones of Regulation programs. In the Senior School, a group of Years 10 – 12 students meets weekly to discuss ways of proactively responding to various social and emotional issues.
The Wellbeing Team
Wellbeing Specialists include the Counsellor, Psychologist and Director of Wellbeing. They liaise closely with Year Level Coordinators to ensure that the emotional, social and academic needs of each individual student are well supported.
